Four Degrees of Separation: I Really Like Your Work

September 5 through 26th, 2026, at Orange County Center for Contemporary Art

This group  exhibit flips the conventional curatorial model on its head by first populating the exhibit with artists who are inspired by each other's work, only afterwards locating their common conceptual and aesthetic concerns which - for these artists - is the "space where political realities and spiritual reflection intersect": (Shana Nys Dambrot 2026)

Artists: Pepe Coronado, Annette Cyr, Palén Obesa, Rebecca Bui, Tessie Barrera-Scharaga, Thai Bui, Terry Acebo Davis, Debra Vodhanel, and Vladimir Cybil Charlier

This event is sponsored in part by the City of Santa Ana

Leap of Faith installation by Tessie Barrera-Scharaga

Leap of Faith reflects on suffering, resilience, and the role belief plays when circumstances feel beyond our control. Inspired by Colombia’s Tequendama Falls—a site marked by both natural beauty and histories of violence and resistance—I explore the fragile space between hope and helplessness. Raised Catholic but no longer practicing, I am interested less in doctrine than in belief as a human response to vulnerability, asking what helps us endure when reality feels unbearable.

Mixed media installation incorporating clay, wood, fabric, and video

10' x 14' x 10'
